Dr. Gordon graduated magna cum laude from Temple University in 1974 with a B.A. in political science. He then attended New York Medical College, receiving his M.D. degree after 3 years in 1977. Dr. Gordon completed an internship in internal medicine in 1978 at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. After internship Dr. Gordon served as a Captain in the United States Army while stationed for two years in Karlsruhe, Germany. During army service Dr. Gordon tended to U.S. soldiers and their dependents. Upon his return to the States Dr. Gordon studied ophthalmology and completed his residency at New York Medical College, serving as Chief Resident at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, New York.

While in private practice in Highland Park, New Jersey, Dr. Gordon co-founded the Somerset Eye Institute in 1996. He has also served as the Chief of the Division of Ophthalmology within the Department of Surgery at St. Peter’s University Medical Center for many years.
